We should say the obvious thing first. Lumestone sells a QR memorial plaque, so this is a comparison written by an interested party. The way we have tried to handle that is by sourcing every competitor figure to the company's own website and by naming, plainly, the places where a rival product is better than ours. There are several.

Prices in this guide were read from each company's own site on July 27, 2026, in US dollars. They change, product lines get discontinued, and shipping is quoted differently everywhere. Check before you buy.

One clarification before the tables. Older comparisons list Remember Well as a competitor. Remember Well was Lumestone's former brand name and the same small team, so it is not in the table below; listing yourself twice is not a comparison. How to judge a QR memorial plaque

Most buyers compare the sticker price of the plaque, which is the least informative number available. Two plaques that look identical can sit behind completely different obligations.

Five things actually decide whether you will be glad of the purchase in a decade.

• The memorial page. This is what people see. The plaque is a doorknob. Look at a finished example from each provider before deciding anything.
• Media limits. Several providers advertise free hosting and cap photographs or route video through YouTube. The cap is in the FAQ, not the headline.
• The hosting arrangement. Included, prepaid for a fixed term, or billed yearly. Each has a different failure mode.
• Privacy and export. Can the page be made private, and can you download everything you uploaded.
• Material and guarantee. What the plaque is cut from, and what the company promises if it fails.

What included hosting actually includes

Free hosting is the strongest line in this market and the one that repays reading closely. In several cases the free tier is a real product with real limits, disclosed honestly in the FAQ and simply absent from the marketing.

Two things follow from that table. First, if you have four hundred photographs and want them all on the page, the free tiers are not free for you, and at least two of the upgrade prices are unpublished, so you cannot compare the real cost until you are already committed. Second, video handling varies more than anything else. Uploading a clip and embedding a YouTube link are not the same product, and a family with a camcorder tape and no YouTube account will feel the difference.

The trade-offs are real: pages are public with no private option, photographs are capped at 50 with an unpublished annual subscription beyond that, and video has to live on YouTube or Vimeo and be embedded. Worth checking exactly which features sit behind the $99 and $350 tiers before you assume the free one is enough.

Life's QR

The most expensive plaque here at $250 for the 2 by 2 inch and $275 for the 4 by 4 inch, in 304 stainless, with 35 years of hosting prepaid and no subscriptions. Prepaid hosting for a defined term is arguably the most honest model in the market, because it puts a number on the commitment instead of using the word forever. Whether it is worth five times the Scan2Remember price depends on how much you value that.

LegacyMarker

A free tier at $0 lets you build and look at a page before spending anything, which no other provider here offers. The plaque is $129 one-time, and Premium is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year. If you want to see what these pages feel like before committing, starting here costs nothing.

An anodized aluminum QR plate at $99.99, listed at $124.99, with a 10-year replacement warranty available for $9.99. The warranty add-on is priced sensibly. We could not establish their hosting arrangement in our check, which is the first thing we would ask them.

The cheapest entry point at $29.00 for the tile alone, or $65.00 for the tile with a website. Their site does not explicitly state that there is no subscription, so treat the absence of a recurring fee as unconfirmed rather than promised.

Memorial QR

The only provider here where hosting is both mandatory and billed per memorial, at $4.99 a month. For a single memorial that is $59.88 a year, and for a family memorializing two people it doubles. Compare that with plans priced per order before deciding.

There is no subscription, no yearly fee, nothing charged per plaque or per page, and nothing that can lapse because a card expired. The honest weakness: charging once means your memorial produces no recurring revenue, so what keeps it online is the margin on plaques we have not sold yet rather than a bill you keep paying. We are not going to answer that with the word forever. What we will put in writing is narrower and checkable: a memorial is never deleted for non-payment, because there is no payment to miss, and if we ever had to stop operating you would get long notice and a full export of every photo, video and word you uploaded. Ask everyone else in this table for the same two commitments, and keep your own originals whichever way you go.

Plaque materials and lifespan

Farewelling's material comparison gives adhesive labels a 3 to 7 year outdoor life at $15 to $40, anodized aluminum medallions 10 to 15 years at $50 to $100, ceramic tiles 20 or more years at $60 to $150, stainless medallions 25 or more years at $75 to $200, and bronze 50 or more years at $100 to $300 (Farewelling).

By that measure Our Tributes and Life's QR have the material advantage, and everyone selling anodized aluminum, ourselves included, is in the middle band. It is worth knowing that anodizing is a range rather than a single thing: the Aluminum Anodizers Council defines Class I as 0.7 mil or thicker and specifies it for exterior architectural use, with Class II at 0.4 to 0.7 mil intended for interiors or for outdoor use with maintenance (Anodizing.org). Anodized aluminum cladding on buildings is credited with 40 years or more of service life (The Construction Specifier).

You will see vendors quoting 20 to 50 years for anodized plaques. We are not going to repeat that as fact, because we could not find it tested. What is not in dispute is that any engraved metal plaque is in a different category from a printed label, and the label is the one that chalks over. Three providers here handle this differently enough to change a decision. Ask about advertising and data too. A memorial page carrying ads for funeral services is a real product that exists, and it is a miserable thing to scan at a graveside.
